On June 26th at 5:00 p.m., the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto (FAUP) will host a round table titled “Reclaiming the Past, Designing the Future: Energy Retrofit Challenges in Modern Collective Housing”. The event, to be held in the Sala Plana, is organised within the scope of the research project WellBEH [2023.11189.PEX], and is organized by Luciana Rocha and Rui Fernandes Póvoas.
The session will open with a brief presentation of the project by Luciana Rocha (Principal Investigator, CEAU/FAUP), followed by an introduction to the main discussion topics by Rui Fernandes Póvoas (FAUP). The roundtable, with moderation by Nuno Valentim (FAUP), will feature contributions from Ana Tostões (IST-UL), Franz Graf (Accademia di Architettura, USI, Mendrisio), and Giuseppe Galbiati (Accademia di Architettura, USI, Mendrisio and UCLouvain, Brussels).
This roundtable proposes a critical reflection on the preservation of modern collective housing heritage and energy performance demands, highlighting economic and regulatory constraints, the contribution of interdisciplinary decision-support methodologies, and the role of digital tools and energy simulations in guiding retrofit strategies.
Free admission (subject to room capacity).
